Personal cleaning and hygiene
We practice personal hygiene because we want to keep well, safe from illness, living life with a sense of wellbeing. We also practice personal hygiene to be accepted socially. Personal cleaning and hygiene practices include regular washing of the body, brushing of the teeth, maintaining clean nails and maintaining a good personal appearance at all times. Personal hygiene can be expanded to include care in the preparation of the food that we eat. Related to all these are the practice of keeping our living areas, the bathroom and the kitchen immaculately clean.
With the threat of the AH1N1 virus, we are again reminded of practices that we were taught in grade school. We have to cover our mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing; and then to wash our hands after. We should also wash our hands after touching public objects as when we ride public transportation. We should avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth before we can wash our hands. On top of all these, we should rest well, eat a balanced diet and stay healthy.
