Everyone should learn how to make compost to help our environment. It reduces the waste that will be dumped in landfills and other sites. It is an activity that the whole family can participate in. The kitchen is one of the places where you can get the ingredients for your compost pile.
Used coffee grounds and tea leaves are good additives for the soil. Eggshells can be dumped in too but they have to be washed and rinsed out of all egg parts. You really just want the shell. No animal products should be put in like meat, bones and dairy products. You compost pile will get contaminated and will attract vermin. Other things you can put in are your fingernails that you have just trimmed and your hair that has collected on your brushes. Even pet fur can be used.

One of the places where water is wasted is the washbasin faucet. When we brush our teeth, and wash our face and hands we often forget to turn off the water. The kitchen is another place where water is wasted. We wash dishes, vegetables and fruits and just let the water run. So much water is wasted from leaving the faucet on.
One way is to get automatic faucets. There are a variety of faucets to choose from that use infrared technology. The water turns on when it senses that there is something under it and turns automatically off when it doesn’t sense anything. These faucets look good too so it will not pose a design problem in your bathrooms or kitchens. This is one way to save precious water resources.
