The optional 12v DC fan is 1.4 watts and can be powered by a solar panel and 12 volt marine battery. The odorless composting is made possible by the 4″ vent mounted at the top rear of the unit that acts kind of like a chimney for a wood stove. The vent should be installed upright and 2-3 feet above the roof top for good air movement.
