fretwork
These beautiful pieces are either carved in low relief on a solid background, or cut out with a fretsaw, jigsaw or scroll saw. These interlaced pieces called fretwork are usually done in geometric designs on wood or metal. They are used to adorn furniture and musical instruments. Fretwork making is time consuming work. A pattern is put on a piece of wood and the holes are cut one hole at a time.
The result is beautiful. These handcrafted pieces find their way to home interiors decorated in the Edwardian, Federation or Victorian period. Some modern homes use it to add a bit of character to a doorway or a wall. It will be a great gift for someone who has everything. Anybody will be pleased to receive this unique gift.
