Some things you just keep and keep and keep. You do a general clean-up of your stuff once or twice a year. Certain items are just so easy to toss into the trash bin, or give away to people who can use them. But there are certain things that you just can’t part with. Never mind if they had outlived their purpose. It doesn’t matter if they look a bit shabby compared to other things you have around.

In my case, it is an angel candleholder. It was a gift that I got for Christmas from a friend. There is nothing special about the piece, it was just an ordinary metal candlestick painted bronze. What makes it so endearing is a little cherubim happily clinging to the stem. It looks like she is totally enjoying what she was doing, like a little boy who just learned how to climb a tree and wanted to stay there forever. This unassuming little candle stick has withstood years and years of clean-ups and de-cluttering. It has managed to find a dwelling in different rooms of my home.
