One of the simplest forms of bed frames are those made of metal. They usually sit on low wheels or casters and come in twin/full, queen and king sizes. The advantage of metal bed frames is mainly the cost. They are usually more affordable than wood bed frames.

On king sized metal bed frames, the width of the bed requires center support so these generally have a metal strip in the frame’s middle to provide extra support. Metal bed frames of any size have slightly raised edges measuring an inch or two of metal support. These are needed to keep the mattress from slipping off the frame while in use.
